Family gathers by Queen's side as doctors express concern for monarch's health

At Balmoral, the family is gathered while Queen Elizabeth II is under medical supervision.

According to Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II is being treated by a doctor because they are "concerned for Her Majesty's health."

The monarch, who has spent the summer in Scotland's Balmoral Castle, is "comfortable," according to the palace.

The successor to the throne, Prince Charles, is already at Balmoral Castle with the Queen together with his wife, Camilla, and sister, Princess Anne. Prince Andrew, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince William, Charles's eldest son, are also traveling to Balmoral. Prime Minister Liz Truss of Britain stated on Twitter that Queen Elizabeth's health is "very concerning" for the entire nation.

"My thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen, as are the thoughts of everyone in our United Kingdom.
The queen has long been making preparations for her successor. Charles, the longest-serving king-in-waiting in history, has been taking more and more of the queen's place. He gave speeches at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in August, the COP26 Climate Conference in the fall, and the ceremonial State Opening of Parliament in May.

The queen declared earlier this year that she wanted Camilla to be referred to as "queen consort" when Charles becomes king, marking the 70th anniversary of her ascension to the British monarchy.
